The Roger Federer Foundation in aid of Early Childhood Development

We at CBD marketing had the great honour, opportunity and (a tad stressful) task: arrange a breakfast meeting for top tier private sector companies, individuals and Foundation heads as well as a press conference in aid of Early Childhood development hosted by The Roger Federer Foundation…and we loved every minute of this!

Tennis legend Roger Federer is making big moves off the court—this time for South Africa’s youngest learners. At a recent breakfast event in Johannesburg, hosted by the Roger Federer Foundation and organized by CBD Marketing, he challenged business leaders to step up and invest in early childhood development (ECD).

Why ECD Matters for South Africa’s Future

Federer highlighted that while his foundation has provided quality preschool education to over 300,000 children, another 1.3 million are still waiting for access to crucial resources like playgrounds, books, and trained educators. Studies show that investing in ECD yields up to 13% returns, benefiting not just children but entire communities.

Business Leaders Joining the Cause

Nonkululeko Nyembezi, Chair of Business Leadership South Africa, urged businesses to see ECD investment as a strategic advantage, not just corporate responsibility. Federer echoed this sentiment: “We are stronger together.”

A Star-Studded Collaboration

CBD Marketing Team with Siya KolisiNational rugby captain Siya Kolisi from the Kolisi Foundation, also shared his inspiring journey, emphasizing the power of education. With Federer’s foundation expanding its School Readiness Initiative, the message was clear—collaboration is key to ensuring every child in South Africa gets the best start in life.

And these projects…this is what makes us love what we do! We are grateful, humbled and honoured for the team entrusting us being part of spreading greatness.
